Website Design in NJ
As website designers in NJ we see it every day. A small business owner will tell us that websites don’t work. When we take a look at their website and run some tests on it we can understand why they think that. It is rare to see a good website, it is a sad state of affairs. When you search for something online only the top 5 search results are good sites. The other 95 in the top 100 search results aren’t. That’s a huge gap.
It’s good news for many business owners. There are so many bad websites that you are only competing against a few. The playing field is still not crowded, especially on a local level in NJ. Let’s look at what is included in a great website design in NJ.
A great website design will load lightning fast. It needs to load on all different devices and on all different internet speeds. A fast light website is one of the biggest factors in a successful website.
with internet speeds advancing people are getting accustomed to faster speeds. If a site doesn’t load in 3 seconds they have already clicked the back button. Google tracks this and will penalize you in search result rankings for this.
A good website will look and feel good. You instinctively know when a site has a good or bad design. When you go to a website it will give you a feeling. If it has bad graphics and is designed bad it will make you want to leave.
When everything works together and the flow of the site is right it will make your visitors want to stay. You may not realize it at the time but a good design makes your visit pleasant and enjoyable. Trust your web designer and try not to add in junk that is not needed.
If it is not vital to a page then kill it. Just cause you saw a moving graphic on another site does not mean you need one on yours. You don’t know the numbers on other sites. For all you know that graphic is killing their bounce rate and does not convert any leads.
Less is more when it comes to a good website design. Trying to cram everything on web pages stresses out a visitor. A clean and simple design does wonders. Think of a room, do you like going into a room that is clean and tidy or a room that is a mess and has clutter everywhere? It’s the same with websites.
Navigation piggybacks off the last point. Your site needs to have easy and organized navigation. A confusing navigation makes it hard on visitors. Anything even the slightest bit hard to figure out will lead to visitors leaving quickly.
Everything needs to be organized perfectly. This also helps Google rank your site. If your site is confusing for Google they will assume it is also confusing for humans and rank you lower. Speaking of ranking lets get into the fun stuff. SEO.
This is where most website designers fail. The average designer doesn’t consider how the website design affects the search engine optimization. If they do offer SEO services they charge separately for it. We actually offer the SEO as our main product and then the website comes with it.
Imagine buying a car and then being told the tires don’t come with the car. If you want the tires they are an extra fee. That doesn’t make sense but it’s what most web design companies in NJ do.
You NEED proper SEO if your site is going to work for you. If you don’t have SEO you should not have a site. No one will ever see it. You will spend time and money on a great web design that will never see the light of day.
